Bitz Intermediate Fourth Graders Shine with Green Future Research Projects
Fourth graders at Bitz Intermediate School have been hard at work exploring how technology can create a greener, more sustainable future. As part of their Unit 5 learning, students researched renewable resources and investigated real-world environmental challenges such as high energy costs, traffic issues, and the need for cleaner fuel alternatives. Their goal: to design a smart, eco‑friendly solution that could help their community.
After completing their research, students created digital Wixie presentations to clearly state their opinions about why their selected “green project” would make a positive impact. Using strong reasons, facts, and supporting details, they crafted opinion pieces that showcased both their understanding and creativity. Many students also built models or prototypes at home using recycled materials, bringing their ideas to life just like real engineers.
To celebrate their hard work, some fourth graders proudly presented their projects to families during a special community event at the school. Parents had the opportunity to view the Wixie presentations, ask questions, and learn directly from the students about the innovative solutions they imagined for a greener future. It was a meaningful showcase of research, writing, engineering, and student voice—all coming together in one inspiring event.
